Job summary

The Academic Manager, will be responsible for overseeing and managing all academic activities from grade 7 to 13. The academic Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing training programs, ensuring the quality of teaching, course production (online, face-to-face etc.) and assessment methods and working closely with the teaching staff and management.

Responsibilities and tasks :

  • Develop, implement and evaluate training programmes in accordance with the needs of the learners and the guidelines of the management
  • Plan and coordinate academic activities, including scheduling, faculty meetings, academic events, etc.
  • Ensuring the quality of teaching by proposing assessment methods, standards and tools, as well as providing academic support to teachers where necessary
  • Designing and standardising assessment procedures, course outlines and teaching materials in order to ensure the quality of training programmes
  • Report academic performance to management while implementing continuous improvement measures
  • Supervising and managing the activities of the teaching staff, including recruiting, training, coordinating and evaluating teachers

Core competencies :

  • Excellent management skills, including planning, organisation and monitoring
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English (another language would be an asset, especially Mauritian Creole)
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Good knowledge of computer tools

Education and experience :

• Master’s degree in education, administration or a related field
• PGCE certificate
